UPF-Peru Expands Community Outreach & Partners

Lima, Peru – The month of September was a busy one for UPF-Peru, which held five separate events involving hundreds of people, on themes ranging from cultural inclusion of minorities to eradication of poverty and the pursuit of inner peace.
On September 10, 2025, UPF-Peru organized a forum for the celebration of the International Day of People of African Descent, with prominent speakers of African descent. The event was held in the auditorium of the Congress of Peru in Lima.
Dr. Trevor Jones, president of UPF-Peru, opened the forum with a speech sent from London. Secretary General Mr. Jaime Fernández Túpac emphasized the words of the UN secretary general on the rights of people of African descent, wherever they live around the world, and presented the UPF vision of one great universal family under God. Thirty-one new ambassadors for peace were appointed.
On September 12, the Congress of the Republic of Peru sent a letter of congratulations for the 20th anniversary of UPF. In his capacity as congressman, Dr. Raúl Huamán Coronado congratulated UPF for its 20 years of working for world peace, and recognized the hard work of Dr. Trevor Jones, president of UPF-Peru, in Peru. A prominent lawyer also sent greetings on his television program for UPF's anniversary.
On September 20, UPF-Peru co-sponsored a comprehensive health campaign held in conjunction with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, at the Fernando Carbajal Segura National School in the Ate District east of Lima. The campaign was aimed at students, parents, and the general public. One hundred participants received plastic containers of fruit, cookies and water.
On September 21, together with the Great Universal Fraternity, UPF-Peru celebrated the International Day of Peace at the Peace Monument in the District of Jesus Maria in Lima. An opening prayer was offered by Ambassador Luis Acero, a member of the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development. Mr. Jaime Túpac emphasized the significance of this day and read a message from UPF President Dr. Tageldin Hamad.
On September 22, UPF-Peru hosted a conference at its headquarters in Miraflores, Lima, on “Peace of Mind: How to Cultivate the Heart and Have a Positive Mind.” The main speaker, Buddhist monk Mr. Lopon Sonam Yoezer, delivered a speech full of wisdom. Around 60 people took part, including ambassadors for peace and members of the Buddhist organization Drukpa Peru.
On September 25, UPF-Peru and the Rotary Club Lima Gente de Acción signed an Institutional Strategic Alliance Charter, signaling their intention to work together. The ceremony took place in the UPF-Peru auditorium in Miraflores, with the participation of members of both organizations.
Dr. Trevor Jones presented the vision of UPF and its founders via video. Mr. Jaime Túpac gave a presentation on UPF’s Five Principles of Peace. Ms. Rosario del Pilar Calderón, founding president of the Rotary Club of Lima, shared her vision of how the two groups can work together. Former governor Ms. Gianina E. García-Blásquez Migliaro spoke about the importance of this new alliance.
