Moscow, Russia – The Lyubertsy District of Moscow region hosted a tournament under the theme “Play Football for Peace,” organized by Mr. Dmitry Samko, chairman of UPF-Moscow, with the support of local deputies and the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Moscow region.
This is not the first project of its kind. These sports events, which have become a cherished tradition since 2016, bring together residents of the district — fathers, friends and colleagues — through a game that unites generations. Children cheer for their dads, and spectators come with their families, creating a truly warm and friendly atmosphere both on and off the field.
At the opening ceremony, deputies of the Lyubertsy City District delivered welcoming remarks, emphasizing that football is not only about a healthy lifestyle but also a powerful tool for fostering friendship and mutual understanding: “Football teaches teamwork, support, and striving toward a common goal — these are the very qualities we need both in life and in society.”
Tournaments in the region are more than just a game — they are a shining example of how sport can serve as a tool for peace, friendship, and family unity.
