Swiss Peace Ambassadors Blend Boating and Brainstorming
Biel, Switzerland – To commemorate the International Day of Peace, the local Biel chapter of UPF-Switzerland organized an outing of ambassadors for peace on September 30, 2026. Thirteen people spent eight hours on a boat touring the three lakes of Biel, Neuchâtel and Morat.
For the first 3 ½ hours they met in four different groups of three and discussed the following four topics simultaneously:
Sharing universal principles and values
Contributing to the well-being of youth
Expanding the local network of ambassadors for peace
Cooperating with other organizations
After collecting the 16 sheets of paper generated by this activity, Ms. Chantal Chételat Komagata, secretary general of UPF-Switzerland, was delighted to discover a wealth of creative and forward-thinking ideas and reflections, with a year to put them into action before meeting again on another tour.
Such outings with fellow ambassadors for peace create synergies that remind every participant of the goals to serve others and to benefit society, and allow creative interaction to produce innovative ways to accomplish these goals.
There was a 50-minute stop in Morat for a picnic in a splendid setting. On the way back, the participants paid more attention to the fantastic scenery around the lakes, as well as chatting and playing games – a chance to unwind after a morning spent on brainstorming.
