IMAP Allies With Anti-Trafficking Newspaper in Honduras

Tegucigalpa, Honduras – In the context of the International Day Against Trafficking in Persons, El Global News (EGN) was officially launched as a specialized digital newspaper with global reach dedicated to informing, investigating and raising awareness of human trafficking and associated violence from a human rights, gender, diversity and inclusion perspective. The launch took place on July 30, 2026, at London Hall in the Clarion Hotel in Tegucigalpa.


The International Media Association for Peace (IMAP) was one of the media organizations invited to the launch, represented by Mario Salinas, IMAP's regional coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean. Mr. Salinas was seated at the main table, and was designated as one of the main speakers of the event.


The other attendees seated at the main table were Ms. Alba Yanira Guerra, vice minister of the Secretariat of State for Women’s Affairs (SEMUJER); Ms. Kathia Crivelli, vice minister of the Secretariat for Human Rights; Ms. Doris Gutierrez and Ms. Silvia Montalvan, both members of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN); Ms. Nadia Hernandez of the Martin Family Charity Association; and Ms. Sua Martinez Ibarra, CEO and general manager of El Global News. Ms. Martinez is a well-known human rights advocate and a specialist in human trafficking.


In his speech, Mr. Mario Salinas stated that the launch of EGN is a great opportunity for the region, starting in Honduras, and that IMAP will strive to maintain a healthy alliance with EGN, offering all possible opportunities for exchange with its network of media outlets and journalists around the world.


Also in attendance at the event were Attorney Jorge Morel, secretary general of UPF-Honduras, and Ambassador for Peace Ms. Maritza Morel.
