Conakry, Guinea – As part of UPF-Africa's 2026 Summer Activities initiative, and in support of a broader culture of peace, UPF-Guinea organized a Marathon for Social Cohesion and Living Together on August 12, 2026, in the urban commune of Ratoma.
The marathon covered a distance of 800 meters, from the large Hamadallaye roundabout in Ratoma to the courtyard of the commune's Youth House. Mobilization of participants took place from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, when the march set off under the supervision of security personnel and young peace volunteers.
The event brought together ambassadors for peace, civil society actors, local authorities, volunteers and media representatives. Participants also included representatives of the Ministry of Youth, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, and the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection. Civil society groups included young peace leaders – the Red Card movement and the Axis Youth Movement — and the Red Cross, for a total of 126 participants.
Throughout the route, participants carried banners and chanted the slogan "Words, steps, the choice of peace." Following the march, participants expressed satisfaction with the initiative, its organization, and the involvement of authorities at every level.
