Chisinau, Moldova – To honor families and children, UPF-Moldova held two events designed to support and inspire children, their parents and caregivers.
On the occasion of the International Day of Families on May 15, 2026, UPF-Molodova, in partnership with the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) and the Personal Assistance Social Service (SSAP), organized an event for the families of persons with disabilities and the personal assistants who care for them daily. The aim was to offer these caregivers what they give to others every day: presence, support, and a safe space to breathe.
The event brought together 20 families. Two parallel tracks ran simultaneously:
Parents and personal assistants participated in a practical emotional balance workshop facilitated by psychologist Ms. Elena Esanu. Participants identified personal challenges – such as burnout or loss of patience – and worked in groups to develop concrete coping strategies, sharing insights in a climate of openness and mutual support.
Children were engaged in play, movement, and creative activities supervised by Bloom Academy, YSP Moldova and Empower volunteers, ensuring parents could fully participate in their workshop.
Three couples participated in a special ceremony to renew their marriage vows – a meaningful affirmation of their commitment to building their families.
Costangalia – On June 1, UPF-Moldova and FFWPU Moldova co-sponsored a day full of games and joy for children in Costangalia, to celebrate International Children’s Day. The event was organized in partnership with the Costangalia Mayor's Office, SAP Cantemir, G. Vieru Gymnasium, and a local kindergarten.
It was a day for children to simply be children — to play, create and discover new things alongside their parents. Several hands-on workshops were organized, where children could let their imaginations run free.
A painting workshop allowed parents and children to work together, and a building workshop encouraged creativity and teamwork. Children had their faces painted by a volunteer, a graduate of the local arts school, and at the end every child received a gift of sweets, books and games.
The activities were based on the understanding that children do not separate play from learning, and that families that take time to play together give their children the most beautiful memories.
