Colombia Peace Ambassadors Commit to Developing Youth Leaders

Bogotá, Colombia – To commemorate International Youth Day, UPF-Colombia held a forum in the Constitution Room at the National Capitol of Colombia in Bogotá, on August 26, 2025. The event, themed “For a vibrant, happy and prosperous youth,” included speeches and discussions on issues concerning young people in modern society.
The event opened with the national anthem and an inspiring prayer by Pastor Mercedes Mejía, a UPF ambassador for peace. This was followed by welcoming remarks by Senator Germán Blanco, who served as host of the event. He spoke of the importance of young people taking leadership roles in society.
Senator Karina Espinosa also spoke, emphasizing the importance of restoring moral values in all aspects of social life.
Mr. William Rodriguez, president of UPF-Colombia, then introduced the panel that was to address issues related to family life, education and character development among young people.
The panelists included Pastor Mejia, Pastor Alejandro, civic leader Mr. Carlos Sánchez, Senator Karina Espinosa and personal development expert Ms. Olivia Granda. Their presentations focused on the principles and values that are essential for young people to develop integrity of character.
The panel was completed by Senator Carlos Guevara, who gave a detailed presentation of current public policy that supports youth development in Colombia. He also thanked UPF for its initiatives in this area.
More than 80 leaders from various sectors of society participated in this program, and 21 new very enthusiastic peace ambassadors were appointed. The program concluded with a commitment by participants to support programs aimed at cultivating young leaders for the sake of society and the nation.
