Oslo, Norway—An interfaith program celebrating the U.N. International Day of Peace examined the role of religions in contributing to peace.
UPF-Norway organized the event on September 21, 2023, in partnership with the Central Jamaat E Ahle Sunnat mosque, the largest mosque in Oslo, and the Adam’s Children association.
The event was held in the mosque under the title “The Sustainable Development Goals and Religion.” Hindu, Christian, Muslim and Buddhist speakers contributed to the topic.
Even though the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals do not mention religion, the speakers pointed out that religion matters. It plays a major role in many people’s lives. At the same time, there are common and universal values in the various faith traditions that can contribute to unite us.
The evening closed with a meal and socializing.
