Munich, Germany—UPF-Munich commemorated World Interfaith Harmony Week by holding an interfaith prayer breakfast.
The event on February 11, 2023, was held under the theme “How Can Religious Communities Contribute to the Process of Real Peace in Our World?”
Acting as the moderator, Robert Bentele, the leader of UPF-Munich, offered introductory remarks about the United Nations-designated commemorative week. He then explained about the theme of the meeting.
Enriching contributions from representatives of various religious communities followed.
Billie Wegmann, pastor of the Church of Scientology, delivered a keynote speech on the “Golden Rule” and showed two short videos on the subject.
Malik Usman Naveed, the imam of the Ahmadiyya Community in the town of Neufahrn, spoke about the topic from a Muslim point of view. He stressed that, above all, a “higher authority,” Allah, is absolutely necessary for a moral perspective.
Wolf Osterheld spoke on behalf of UPF. He referred to the proposal of UPF founder Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon that an interreligious chamber be established at the United Nations. He also stated that peace, first and foremost, always begins with the individual.
Much was said about the power of prayer. A lively discussion ensued.
The host on this occasion was the Bavarian Church of Scientology. At the invitation of Imam Naveed, the next event will be held in Neufahrn.
