Moscow, Russia – “Peace Road – Korea-Russia” is a new, bilingual webinar series exploring opportunities for cooperation between Russia and the Republic of Korea in the context of Eurasian development. The first program, “The Republic of Korea’s Interest in the Northern Sea Route: Opportunities for New Eurasian Cooperation,” was published in South Korea on September 30, and in Russia on October 2, 2026.
In this program, two Korean experts shared their perspectives on the significance of the Northern Sea Route, which traverses Russia’s Arctic coastline; the development of ties between South Korea and Russia; and the prospects for broader Eurasian cooperation.
The program was hosted by Ms. Jinju Yoo, director of the Peace Road Foundation in Seoul. The invited experts included Professor Kim Jong-hoon, a specialist in Russian and Central Asian studies at Paichai University and a graduate of the master’s and doctoral programs at Moscow State University; and Professor Emeritus Han Jong-man, doctor of economics from the University of Munich, former director of the Korea-Siberia Center, and the founding chairman of the Korean Society of Arctic Studies.
For decades, Professor Han has researched Russia and the Arctic, developing the concept of “Euramsia” – incorporating North America and Eurasia into an interconnected northern hemispheric network – and advocating new transportation links, including a proposed undersea tunnel across the Bering Strait.
This program opened a dialogue. The Korean specialists addressed the Russian audience with their vision of opportunities for cooperation. The next program will be a reciprocal step, featuring Russian scholars and experts who will present their perspectives on the prospects for Russia-South Korea cooperation and the development of Eurasian transportation and economic links.
The program concluded with a video produced by the Peace Road Foundation and submitted to a competition for AI-generated videos dedicated to the construction of the “Putin-Trump Tunnel,” a project proposed in October 2025 on social media by Mr. Kirill Dmitriev, special presidential representative of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This project was jointly implemented by the World Peace Road Foundation and UPF-Russia, in the Korean and Russian languages. As of Oct. 5, 2025, the program had 9,000 views on Russian platforms.
