Seminar Urges Nepali Youth to Develop & Exercise Leadership

Kathmandu, Nepal – In conjunction with International Youth Day, UPF-Nepal organized a youth seminar at Bhagyodaya College in Shankarapur Municipality, Kathmandu, under the theme “The Role of Youth Leadership, Restoring Trust: What Can Be Done for Peace Now?” The seminar, attended by 138 college students, focused on the role of youth in peacebuilding, restoring trust, promoting social harmony and developing responsible leadership.
Mr. Rushan Basi, principal of Bhagyodaya College, delivered the welcome remarks, while Mrs. Nila Shrestha, president of WFWP Nepal, offered special remarks. Ms. Madan Kumari Bajrachaya, chairwoman of Karmashil Women Society, served as MC and moderated the program.
Mr. Santosh Kumar Paudel and Mr. Prakash Babu Thapa, respectively president and secretary general of UPF-Nepal, addressed the students on youth leadership, integrity, mutual respect, service, cooperation and social responsibility. Both encouraged the youth to become active partners in peacebuilding, to recognize their leadership potential and use it for positive transformation of society.
Students also presented a cultural performance conveying messages of unity, friendship, creativity and respect for cultural diversity.
Following the seminar, UPF-Nepal representatives held a courtesy meeting with Mrs. Samita Shrestha, deputy mayor of Shankarapur Municipality. They discussed opportunities for cooperation among local government, educational institutions, civil society and young people in promoting peace, social development and community-based initiatives.
The program highlighted the message that young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but are also active partners in building peace today. It called for meaningful youth participation in fostering trust, cooperation, and a culture of peace in Nepal and beyond.
