"Principles of Peace" Forum Supports Ethiopian National Dialogue

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia –  On August 22, 2026, UPF-Ethiopia organized a conference at the Dashen Hall of Ghion Hotel in Addis Ababa. The purpose was to introduce the vision of peace of UPF’s founders, and also the "Five Principles of Peace" to 20 special guests.

The conference was held in support of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Forum launched by the Prime Minister’s Office to reconcile all Ethiopians and encourage unity for peace and prosperity. The government has invited many prominent people, including some from the diaspora, to take part in this project. One of those invited was Abba Tiruneh Bogale, an Anglican priest in charge of a church in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Abba Tiruneh Bogale is also a UPF Ambassador for Peace. Therefore, upon arriving in Ethiopia, he contacted UPF and asked if an educational program could be arranged for some of the other attendees at the government forum.

Abba Tiruneh himself served as MC for the event, while Mr. Simon Amare, president of UPF-Ethiopia, gave the presentations in Amharic, the official national language. The event was also supported by Mr. Girum Tesmama, a very active and dynamic young ambassador for peace, who welcomed and engaged the guests as they arrived.

Overall, the reception of the content was very positive. Guests who expressed interest in UPF and its principles will be invited to attend additional programs in the future.
