Bamako, Mali – UPF-Mali organized a conference at the Complexe Scolaire Moderne Adiara school on August 15, 2026, in observance of International Youth Day and as part of UPF International’s Summer Activities program.  The conference brought together 70 participants, including ambassadors for peace and youth leaders, around the theme “The Role of Youth and Families in Consolidating Sustainable Peace in Mali.”

The program opened with the national anthem, followed by welcoming and opening remarks from Col. Maj. El Hadj Tièoulé Satigui Sidibé, president of Ambassadors for Peace of Mali.

Three panelists then addressed complementary dimensions of the conference theme:

Mr. Mohamed Keita, commissioner of the Scouts of Mali, spoke on “Youth, Citizenship and Conflict Prevention,” emphasizing the importance of responsible youth engagement in building a peaceful society.

Mr. Chiaka Coulibaly, AIPD coordinator, addressed “The Family as a School of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence,” highlighting the family’s role in transmitting values and attitudes that support peaceful relations.

Mrs. Tounkara Kadidiatou Sacko Traoré presented on “Partnership among Youth, Families, the State and Civil Society for Sustainable Peace,” underscoring the importance of cooperation among key social actors.

Following the panel presentations, participants engaged in a question-and-answer session and offered contributions related to the themes discussed. The exchanges reflected strong interest in the role that young people and families can play in strengthening social cohesion and sustainable peace in Mali.

Col. Maj. Sidibé, chairman of UPF-Mali, delivered the closing remarks. The activity concluded with group photographs and short participant interviews. Participants expressed appreciation for the quality and relevance of the presentations and encouraged UPF-Mali to continue organizing similar peace-awareness activities on a regular basis.
