Zurich, Switzerland – A rich diversity of backgrounds and cultures characterized the group that gathered in Zurich on September 27, 2025, to celebrate the UN International Day of Peace. The event brought together representatives of nine different religions and spiritual traditions, as well as people of 17 nationalities.
Unlike in previous years, the meeting was organized in an interactive format. Guided by the UN theme for 2025, which emphasizes that it is everyone’s responsibility “to act now,” the organizers – UPF-Zurich and the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) – chose not to invite designated keynote speakers. Instead, the program was structured as an open microphone session, encouraging all participants to share their reflections, experiences, and personal initiatives for peace.
The atmosphere was harmonious and inclusive. The attendees appreciated the opportunity to listen to one another, exchange ideas, and speak freely in a spirit of mutual respect. The open format created a warm and friendly environment, where every voice could be heard and every contribution valued.
