Moscow, Russia – The 10th anniversary of “Play Football for Peace” was marked with a tournament in the Lyubertsy district of Moscow region on June 6, 2026. Two neighborhood football fields became a gathering place for neighbors, friends, families and approximately 40 football players who came together for sport, friendship and fair competition.
The tournament was organized by Mr. Dmitry Samko, head of UPF-Moscow region. Since 2016, these community football events have become a valued local tradition in Lyubertsy. Here, success is measured not only by scores and standings, but also by teamwork, respect for opponents, healthy living, support among friends and the simple joy of the game.
“Play Football for Peace” promotes neighborhood football as a school of respect, teamwork, family values and good neighborly relations. The idea is simple and accessible: gather local teams, play fairly, support one another and maintain friendship and respect long after the final whistle.
The event was held with the support of the local administration. It was opened with welcoming remarks from a deputy of the City District Council. He encouraged the participants and emphasized the importance of community sports in promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening connections among residents, and developing a vibrant sports culture within the district. Special thanks were extended to Azimut Management Company for preparing the playing fields and to My Ball Company for its partnership and support.
Five teams competed in the tournament. Matches were played simultaneously on two fields, creating a dynamic and exciting tournament atmosphere.
Throughout the day, the teams scored a total of 89 goals. Every match was played in the spirit of fair competition. Some victories were earned through strong teamwork, while others were secured through determination, mutual support and the willingness to fight until the final minute.
The winners and runners-up received trophies and medals during an awards ceremony conducted by tournament organizer Mr. Samko.
Sport provides a powerful way to promote good neighborly relations without lengthy explanations. On the field, it quickly becomes clear whether a person can work as part of a team, support teammates, respect opponents and accept results with dignity.
These tournaments are equally important for children and families. Young people see adults competing fairly, enjoying the game, respecting one another and remaining friends after the final whistle. This creates a positive model of community sports culture, where victory is appreciated but human relationships remain the highest value.
