Main City Selected for Argentina’s Peace Road 2026

Buenos Aires, Argentina – Puerto San Julián, a Patagonian town, has been selected as the main venue for UPF-Argentina’s 12th Peace Road series of activities, to take place throughout the year. The decision was announced during an event at the Golden Hall of Buenos Aires City Legislature on July 27, 2026. The town in Santa Cruz province, located more than 2,000 kilometers from Buenos Aires, was chosen by public vote, winning over the other proposals: General Roca (Río Negro), and Zapala and Plaza Huincul (Neuquén).
The event began with welcoming words by Mr. Martín César, general director of citizen services at the Buenos Aires City Legislature. This was followed by an introductory video on Peace Road, with the global theme of “Connecting the World through Peace.”
The selection of the city is only the beginning of a year-long process that will include Peace Road events throughout the nation. Cities vie for the prestige of being the main venue for this event, and UPF works with the mayor and city officials to make this a meaningful and memorable event for their city.
Each municipality’s representative had seven minutes to present their proposal, introduce their city and justify why it should be chosen as the main venue of the 2026 Peace Road. At the end of all presentations, attendees voted. The city with most votes was Puerto San Julián.
After the announcement, in the spirit of the Peace Road, attendees held a “Patagonia embrace” with the representatives of each municipality.
Peace Road was declared of permanent interest by the nation’s Senate and Chamber of Deputies, “For its valuable purpose of gathering peoples and cultures, transcending ethnicities, nationalities and religions.” It has also been recognized by provincial legislatures of Córdoba, Salta, Chaco, Jujuy, La Rioja, and Catamarca; and the Buenos Aires City Legislature, “For the promotion and defense of human rights.”
