Interactive Character Education Inspires Liberian Students

Updated: 10 hours ago

Paynesville, Liberia – As part of its 100 Days of Harmony and Hope campaign, UPF-Liberia organized a character and peace education program on December 17, 2025, for students at the Calvary Chapel Mission School in Paynesville.

Students in the 12th grade participated in interactive learning sessions facilitated by Mr. Jee Do Arko and Pastor McCarthy Teayah, secretary general of UPF-Liberia. The lectures addressed key themes of character development and peace practices, encouraging students to reflect on their personal roles in building a peaceful society. Central to the discussion was the message that “Peace starts with me,” a principle that resonated strongly with the students and emphasized personal responsibility, discipline, and positive values as essential pillars of harmony.

On December 20, another group of students in Bomi County participated in a similar program, supervised by Hon. Sam P. Jallah, a Bomi County lawmaker and UPF ambassador for peace. Students expressed excitement and enthusiasm as UPF representatives interacted with them on themes of peacebuilding, character formation, and personal responsibility. The sessions emphasized the importance of values-based education in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders.

Hon. Sam P. Jallah shared his experiences as a member of UPF and his journey as an ambassador for peace. Guided by the principle of “living for the sake of others,” he encouraged students to adopt a mindset of service, mutual respect, and community responsibility. His message helped strengthen the connection between peace education and practical leadership, while also reinforcing capacity development and collaboration between UPF and educational institutions.

Around 45 students participated in the session, which was marked by active engagement, thoughtful discussion, and a positive learning atmosphere.
