IMAP, United States – “Elevate Your Message: Mastering Social Media for Nonprofits” was the theme of the International Media Association for Peace (IMAP) North America’s webinar on September 23, 2025. The webinar featured panelist Mr. Ernst Kamga, a media conceptor and web designer, who also serves as social media officer for UPF-United Kingdom and was instrumental in increasing the organization’s Facebook page count to over 202,000 followers. Ms. Peggy Yujiri, executive director of UPF-Colorado, served as moderator.
The webinar was organized in response to UPF International President Dr. Taj Hamad’s recent campaign to increase positive media exposure among UPF chapters.
Official local Facebook pages help control the narrative about an organization online by occupying search result space with positive, mission-aligned content. They also connect chapters with local audiences, and increase visibility for events, statements, and U.N. observances.
Mr. Kamga started by demonstrating how to create a non-profit Facebook page, step by step, as well as how to make a post. He emphasized the importance of posting engaging content that elicits an emotional response, rather than purely factual content, and crafting content that resonates with the audience.
He further explained how social media algorithms work, and the importance of regular posting and audience engagement for visibility. Publishing fresh positive stories is more effective than replying to criticism, he said. Posting consistently about local events, inspirational content, and interfaith topics helps to build an audience.
In conclusion, about a dozen participants agreed to participate in an online chat group that will become a forum for additional questions and provide ongoing support for the development of new pages as well as a forum for sharing content and promoting further development.
