Ghana Celebrates Launch of 100-Day Harmony and Hope Campaign

Updated: 2 days ago

Kumasi, Ghana – The morning of October 31, 2025, at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi was alive with energy, color, and anticipation. Over 300 participants had gathered, from traditional leaders in their resplendent regalia to security officials, youth activists, religious figures, and ambassadors for peace, for the official start of Ghana’s 100-Day Harmony and Hope Campaign.

Rev. Tegha King opened the program with warm and compelling remarks, highlighting the United Nations’ 80-year legacy and the critical role of collective action in building lasting peace. A hush fell over the hall as Apostle A.B Prince led an interfaith prayer, drawing every attendee into a shared moment of reflection and hope. The serene atmosphere was raised as spirits were uplifted by the soulful performances of Mr. Jim Pee and Ms. Josephine Boakwe, their music weaving an inspiring soundtrack to a day of purpose.

Commissioner Frank Abrokwa, Regional Commander of Police in Kumasi, took the stage to deliver a powerful keynote address. He emphasized the indispensable partnership between police and community in peacekeeping, applauding UPF’s global initiatives while urging everyone present to actively engage in local peacebuilding. His words drew nods of agreement, applause, and a renewed sense of determination from the audience.

Then came the symbolic heart of the day: the official launch of the campaign. Oheneyere Serwaa Ampomaa-Tim II, alongside representatives of the Asante Kingdom, cut a beautifully decorated cake, triggering cheers, champagne toasts, and a flurry of celebratory confetti. Bishop J.K Asante followed, reading excerpts from Dr. Taj Hamad’s international launch speech before formally declaring the campaign open and outlining its three flagship objectives: recruiting 1,000 ambassadors for peace, implementing regional peacebuilding training, and establishing five digital peace libraries.

The recognition of Ghanaian peacebuilders was a moving highlight of the day. Amb. Samuel Ojo presented Ambassador for Peace awards to 34 distinguished individuals, from medical professionals and religious leaders to youth activists and traditional authorities. Each recipient’s name was met with enthusiastic applause, smiles, and heartfelt congratulations, reinforcing the spirit of unity and shared purpose. The digital unveiling of The Peace Digital Leader publication added a modern, forward-looking dimension to the campaign, showcasing resources that will support the nationwide initiative in the months to come.

The entire event radiated joy, inspiration, and unity. From the cake-cutting to the awards ceremony and the digital unveiling, every moment reinforced hope, determination, and Ghana’s commitment to peace.
