Eid al Fitr and the Moral Work of Peace

As Muslims around the world conclude the holy month of Ramadan and celebrate Eid al Fitr, the Universal Peace Federation extends its warm congratulations and sincere good wishes to Muslim individuals, families, and communities worldwide.

Eid marks the end of Ramadan, a month devoted to reflection, self-discipline, and care for others. In a world marked by war, mistrust, and social fragmentation, these practices carry meaning far beyond one religious community.

The Quran expresses a principle of enduring relevance: “O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may know one another” Quran 49:13. Another passage teaches that righteousness includes care for relatives, orphans, the needy, and the traveler Quran 2:177. Together, these teachings point toward dignity, responsibility, and peace.

The Universal Peace Federation honors the contribution of Muslim communities to family life, charity, and interfaith understanding.

Inspired by the vision of Dr. Hak Ja Han and the late Rev. Sun Myung Moon, UPF believes that peace begins in the heart, is learned in the family, and grows through service, kindness, and respect for others. Eid al Fitr is a time to renew this spirit and to come closer to the hope of one family under God.

This year, the celebration comes at a moment of deep sorrow, as conflict continues in the very region where the three Abrahamic faiths, Judaism, Christianity and Islam were born, traditions that share a common message of peace, dignity, and love for humanity. In such times, the spirit of Eid carries even greater meaning.

We stand in solidarity with all those affected by violence and hardship, and we reaffirm our hope for a future where understanding triumphs over division, and  a renewed commitment to empathy, justice, and coexistence among all people.

Eid Mubarak to all who celebrate. May it bring peace to hearts, homes, and our shared world.
