Côte d’Ivoire Celebrates Two Decades of Peacebuilding

Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire – UPF celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Félix Houphouët Boigny Foundation in Yamoussoukro on August 8-9, 2025. The two-day event drew 1,500 participants on-site and reached millions online through live streaming platforms, reflecting UPF’s far-reaching impact across the nation and the continent.
The celebration was graced by the president of UPF-Africa, Mr. Adama Doumbia, who played a central role in the ceremonies. In a moment of profound significance, he presented the distinction of Ambassador for Peace to the president of the Senate, Ms. Kandia Camara, the high patron of the event, in recognition of her tireless commitment to peace, social cohesion, and national development. This symbolic gesture underscored UPF’s mission to honor leaders who exemplify moral courage, civic responsibility, and the promotion of reconciliation in society.
Chairman M. Aka Saye Lazare opened the event with a keynote address, reflecting on UPF-Côte d’Ivoire’s journey over the past two decades and highlighting milestones in conflict prevention, youth engagement, and community reconciliation. The signing of the Peace Charter marked a historic moment, reaffirming the nation’s dedication to unity and sustainable peace.
The celebration concluded with the symbolic cutting of the anniversary cake, representing not only two decades of achievements but also a renewed commitment to the next 20 years of peacebuilding across Côte d’Ivoire and Africa as a whole.
