Conference Addresses Family and Social Issues in Eswatini

Manzini, Eswatini – To address key challenges facing families and society in the country, UPF-Eswatini held a conference in Manzini on August 8, 2026. Representatives of civil society groups and local community members listened to presentations and took part in interactive games and discussions.
Following an opening prayer, participants intermingled in a game called “What is Your Preference?” in which they would choose what they preferred in a certain category, and identify others who preferred the same thing. This created a dynamic atmosphere and served as an effective icebreaker.
Opening remarks were given by UPF-Eswatini coordinator, Mr. Jean Mensah Noumonvi, followed by an introductory video about UPF, and a video titled “Happiness Leads to Peace.”
The main presentation was offered by Mr. Bongani Gina, president of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. He featured the core elements that can ensure peace in families, starting from individuals of good character and good relationships in the family. The presentation not only outlined family issues, but also showed how healthy families are the key to a peaceful society. Participants resonated with the content because it touched key challenges in society that have not been resolved or attended to.
Representatives of two other like-minded organizations – the African Women Peace and Development Foundation and the Only God Knows Charity Organization – then introduced their programs related to women and families. During the group discussions that followed, many participants expressed how the program had benefited them.
Towards the end of the program, Ms. Clearance Noumonvi, secretary general of the Women's Federation for World Peace, explained the situation of UPF co-founder Dr. Hak Ja Han, who is currently facing prosecution in South Korea on charges of interfering in politics. She explained how the founders of UPF fought against communism and advocated for ethical and righteous leadership in government, positions that sometimes brought opposition and persecution.
Ms. Sabina Makhanya, president of WFWP Eswatini, gave the closing remarks, pointing out the importance of family and character education in solving the critical problems the nation and the world are facing.
A closing prayer was offered by Pastor Wandile Masuku of the Church of God of Prophecy. At the end, participants were asked to provide feedback on the program through response forms. Their concerns and areas of interest will be considered in the planning of additional programs, which UPF-Eswatini hopes to expand in Manzini and elsewhere.
