Madrid, Spain – UPF-Spain partnered with the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification in organizing a two-day charity event in Madrid, raising funds to support education for impoverished children in Cameroon.
The activity was inspired by Father Cyprien Melibi, a Catholic priest from Cameroon who now lives in Spain. He is the founder of the association EduCamerún, which provides scholarships to children from families with limited resources.
On February 28 and March 1, UPF and FFWPU organized a flea market, selling second-hand items such as clothes and home decorations in good condition, which were donated by members and friends. Some community members also prepared food and sold it to support the event. Father Cyprien brought some Cameroonian handicrafts. Visitors were delighted with the beautiful handmade products, and many people bought them with joy.
On the final evening, a charity concert was organized with a group of musicians who wished to support EduCamerún. Father Cyprien was so pleased with the event, he danced with the musicians at the end of the concert.
It was a very good opportunity for all who were involved to share what they could with those less fortunate, and everyone expressed the desire to continue working together.
