Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso – The national chapter of UPF-Burkina Faso marked two significant milestones in June 2025.
On June 1, UPF celebrated World Football Day, albeit belatedly, by launching the UPF Football Club (UPF-FC). This project seeks not only to harness the unifying power of sports but also to cultivate the next generation of peace leaders through football. The event included the reading of UPF’s official message for World Football Day and a warm-up match at Pissy Multisport Field.
The creation of UPF-FC opens the way for the future establishment of a Peace Football Academy aimed at developing youth leadership, character, and unity through sport.
On June 14, UPF-Burkina Faso co-hosted a peace conference with the Association Abou Baker Al Sidik, highlighting the vision and core principles of UPF with a focus on interfaith cooperation and family values. Forty participants, including religious leaders and peace advocates, took part in the event, which featured a keynote speech by Cheick Sangaré Sieka, president of the association based in Germany.
Cheick Sieka was appointed as an ambassador for peace, strengthening ties between UPF and interfaith actors in the diaspora. The event helped lay the foundation for collaborative action under the umbrella of the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD).
