Brazilian Communities Join Peace Forum and Peace March

Florianópolis, Brazil – A peace forum held on April 29, 2026, at the Legislative Assembly of the State of Santa Catarina brought together approximately 120 participants, including government officials, religious leaders, and representatives of civil society, with the aim of promoting peace as a collective asset.
UPF Peace Ambassador Ms. Silvana Sousa, president of Eleva Mulher Brasil, hosted the event. In her opening remarks she offered a thoughtful reflection on how peace begins with the individual, highlighting the importance of personal transformation as the foundation for broader social change.
Following this, the president of UPF-Brazil, Mr. Danilo Correa, presented UPF’s vision of a culture of peace. He also explained the current situation of UPF co-founder Dr. Hak Ja Han, who is facing prosecution in South Korea. Mr. Correa emphasized that, even in the face of persecution, she continues to work globally to promote peace, interfaith dialogue, and harmony among peoples, and was recently nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
During the event, several dignitaries were presented with the “Person of Peace” award, given to officials and individuals that stand out for concrete actions in support of peace, social stability, and human development. The awards reinforced the collective commitment to building a more just and harmonious society.
Palhoça, Brazil – On April 24, approximately 350 participants joined a Peace March in the city of Palhoça in support of harmony, peaceful coexistence, and the strengthening of shared values.
The event was attended by local authorities, community leaders, and ambassadors for peace, with a notable appearance by Councilman Bala, who delivered an inspiring message highlighting the importance of peace as the foundation for societal development and the role of every citizen in building a more just and compassionate environment.
During the walk, participants expressed, through words, gestures and actions, their collective commitment to a culture of peace, fostering unity among different segments of society. The ambassadors for peace in attendance also contributed reflections and encouragement, reinforcing the need for ongoing actions that begin with the individual and extend to the family and the community.
The Peace Walk in Palhoça reaffirmed the participants’ commitment to the principles of respect, dialogue and cooperation, highlighting that initiatives like this are essential for building a more peaceful and conscious society.
