Argentina Welcomes New Ambassadors for Peace

Buenos Aires, Argentina – UPF-Argentina is expanding its network of ambassadors for peace, with new appointments on a near monthly basis. At separate events in May and June, 2025, 29 new peace ambassadors from different provinces were welcomed into the fold.

The first event was held on May 21, 2025, in the auditorium of Casa de Santa Fe in Buenos Aires. The 13 new peace ambassadors included a pastor, teachers, and civil society representatives actively involved in serving youth and the elderly.

Mr. Hernán Rossi, secretary of the Santa Fe government’s federal delegation in Buenos Aires City, welcomed the guests. He was followed by Mr. Miguel Werner, president of UPF-Argentina, who highlighted the leadership qualities that advance peace. Among those he included a vocation of service; a spiritual tradition; treating people like family; mental, emotional, and spiritual openness to dialogue and inspiration; respect for everyone’s dignity; and commitment to cooperation. He encouraged the new ambassadors to lead by example.

Ms. Esperanza Gómez, director of UPF-Argentina, joined Mr. Werner, his wife Ms. Alba Luz Tangarife, Prof. Julio Nardini and his wife Ms. Rosa Holgado, in presenting the certificates.

The event concluded with two new ambassadors sharing their artistic talents. Ms. Ayelén Francou performed the beautiful song, “Argentina Chooses Peace,” while Mr. Guillermo Gallardo played guitar. A dance group consisting of children, teens and adults also performed a folk dance.

On June 18, 2025, 18 additional ambassadors for peace were appointed. This group included primarily civil society leaders.  Peace Ambassador Mr. Benito Blanco, representative of the Spanish community in Argentina, gave the welcoming address. Mr. Miguel Werner once again introduced the qualities of leadership that peace ambassadors strive to embody. The same team presented certificates to the new ambassadors.

The Choir for Children’s Hospitals, led by Ms. Patricia Yaquino and Mr. Daniel Grimaldi, performed two lovely songs.
