UPF-Peru Marks Mother Earth Day, Appoints Peace Ambassadors

Lima, Peru – UPF-Peru celebrated International Mother Earth Day on April 21, 2026, with a forum at the Congress of the Republic of Peru, attended by 120 guests. The event was sponsored by Congressman Dr. Raúl Huamán Coronado and the Peru chapter of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP), of which Congressman Coronado serves as secretary general.
The president of UPF-Peru, Dr. Trevor Jones, delivered a welcoming address via video message from London, and Secretary General Mr. Jaime Fernández swore in 33 new ambassadors for peace. Among them was the rector of the National University of Ucayali, Dr. Edgardo Leoncio Braul Gomero.
Earlier in the month, on April 8, UPF-Peru held its Leadership and Good Governance Award Ceremony in the auditorium of its headquarters in Miraflores. Before a select group of guests, Congressman Raúl Huamán Coronado, who is also an ambassador for peace, received the award. The ceremony was attended by the general secretaries of the UPF-affiliated associations, a select group of ambassadors for peace, and religious leaders from the Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD).
