UPF-Hungary Marks 20 Years in the Service of Peace

Budapest, Hungary – UPF-Hungary celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Benczúr Hotel in Budapest on November 22, 2025, during its fall Peace Ambassador Forum, with the theme, "Twenty Years in the Service of Peace." The patron of the evening was Ms. Kamilla Dévai Nagy, a Liszt Prize-winning performer, guitarist-singer, and ambassador for peace. She and her students from the Chronicle Music School opened the event, creating a special atmosphere in the hall with their music. In addition to the songs, she shared profound experiences she had throughout her life while serving others.

The musical program was followed by a report from Mr. Jacques Marion, president of UPF-Europe and Middle East, who outlined UPF's goals and the major events and achievements of the past 20 years. In his speech, he touched on the cooperation between UPF and the United Nations.  Following the report, Mr. Gábor Albert-Tóth, president of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Hungary, an affiliated organization, spoke about the life of UPF founder Dr. Sun Myung Moon and his role in peacemaking, after which participants placed flowers of remembrance in front of his picture. A commemoration was also held for ambassadors for peace who passed away in 2025.

After a break, two ambassadors for peace gave short speeches. Prof. Dr. Judit Balázs, an economist and geopolitical expert, shared her thoughts on the necessity of peace research. Dr. Péter Mészáros, an adjunct professor and environmentalist, spoke about his experiences over more than 20 years as a peace ambassador. The program was enlivened by an interactive question-and-answer session, giving participants the opportunity to express their opinions.

At the end of the evening, four new ambassadors for peace received their appointments from Mr. Jacques Marion and Mrs. Erzsébet Sturmné Tomka, president of UPF-Hungary. Mrs. Tomka thanked both the ambassadors for peace and UPF members for their work over the past 20 years, and presented them with certificates of appreciation as a token of gratitude.

The event took place in a special atmosphere, providing an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other and build personal relationships for future joint work.
