Brazzaville, Congo-Brazzaville—With the aim of increasing the network of Ambassadors for Peace in Congo-Brazzaville in order to reach one-third of the country’s VIPs, the Universal Peace Federation Congo-Brazzaville chapter held a ceremony for the appointment of Ambassadors for Peace on May 17, 2023. The ceremony was attended by about 120 people, 95% of whom were local officials. Three (3) new people were nominated including the prefect (governor) of Cuvette, Mr. Jean Christophe Tchikaya; the mayor of the city of Owando, Mr. Michel Elenga Ekobo; and a senator, Mr. Antonin Molamou. The event featured a universal prayer by the UPF secretary general, Mr. Clément Tsana; welcoming remarks by the mayor of the city, Mr. Michel Ekobo; an overview of UPF by the vice president of the IAPP Congo, Mr. Justice Lalissini (deputy); remarks by the president of IAPP, Mr. Roger Okoula (a finance officer of the Senate); remarks by the vice chairman of UPF, Mr. Julien Moufounda (university professor and former parliamentarian); and a video of UPF International activities.
The main presentation of the event was given by Mr. Augustin Zodji, UPF interdepartmental secretary general where he discussed for 35 minutes the five universal principles of the Ambassadors for Peace, thereby enlightening the participants on the real mission of UPF. This was followed by the appointment ceremony of the three Ambassadors for Peace.
The ceremony ended with the official handing over of the Congo 2023 Peace Road flag by the National UPF secretary general, Clément Tsana, to the prefect of the Department of Cuvette. This symbol confirms the conclusion of Peace Road 2023 will take place in July 2023 in the Department of Cuvette.
