Quito, Ecuador – A group of 20 religious leaders from different faiths gathered in Quito on February 7, 2026, for an event organized by UPF-Ecuador to celebrate World Interfaith Harmony Week.
Priests from the Anglican and Orthodox churches joined Catholic missionaries, Protestant pastors, and representatives of Hinduism, Islam and Family Federation for World Peace in sharing their messages of peace and harmony.
Archbishop Luis Moreno of the South America Anglican Church, who is president of the Interreligious Association for Development and Peace (IAPD) Ecuador, emphasized the need for religious leaders to stand up for peace.
Metropolitan Archbishop Chrysostomos Celi of the Orthodox Church shared a heartfelt message lamenting the detainment of UPF co-founder, known as the Mother of Peace, Dr. Hak Ja Han in South Korea.
The participants agreed that, by becoming exemplary people of peace, they can best share and spread the message of peace. They also agreed that, in this time of tension and conflict in the world, the role of religious people in spreading a heart of love is more important than ever.
