Project Hope Receives UPF-Albania Award on Day of Families

Shkodër, Albania – In celebration of the International Day of Families, UPF-Albania, collaborating with the Shkodër Regional Peace Council, held an award ceremony in the city of Shkodër on May 16, 2025. The event was held near the Cathedral of St. Stephen in the Cardinal Mikel Koliqi Hall.
Participants included representatives of various institutions and civil society, young people and inhabitants of residential homes. There were around 160 guests present. Members of the residential homes gave touching descriptions of their personal experiences. Many shared the message that the care they received gave them a sense of belonging and made them feel part of a family.
During the ceremony, the Shkodër branch of the humanitarian organization Project Hope was awarded the Medal of Gratitude. The association, founded in 1995, has, for decades, provided support for orphans and people with disabilities, serving with dedication, love and dignity.
The medal was presented to Mr. Luigj Mila, president of Project Hope, with this inscription: “In appreciation of their contribution and continued dedication to protecting the dignity of persons with disabilities and without family support, providing humane, quality and ethical services that inspire and raise social service standards." Mr. Mila gave a speech to the gathering.
Also addressing the audience were Mrs. Teuta Qyteza, vice mayor of Shkodër Municipality;
Mrs. Majlinda Lacaj, chairperson of the Shkodër Regional Peace Council; Mr. Ali Lacej, chairman of the Trans-Albanian Peace Council; and Mr. Gani Rroshi, secretary general of UPF-Albania.
