Lisbon, Portugal—The UPF co-chair for Europe and the Middle East was the special guest at a meeting of Portugal’s Ambassadors for Peace.
Jacques Marion had long expressed his wish to meet Portugal’s closest Ambassadors for Peace and partners. As he was scheduled to participate in the Estoril Conferences in nearby Cascais earlier on the same day, UPF-Portugal organized a meeting in the evening, at which Mr. Marion would present new Ambassadors for Peace with their certificates.
The meeting took place on September 2, 2023, at the Lisbon Peace Embassy. Despite still being in the vacation season, around 30 people were present, including nine current and three new Ambassadors for Peace.
The program, designed to be very informal, began with a video about UPF. Then all the attendees introduced themselves.
After attending the significant event that was the Estoril Conferences, Mr. Marion focused his message on the historical and current importance of Portugal in Europe, Africa (especially in the Lusophone countries), and the world.
Following that, the appointment of the three new Ambassadors for Peace took place:
Dr. Gonçalo Terenas, the chief development officer of the Human Health, Education and Research Foundation;
Dr. Isabel Potier of the Citizens Order Association;
Rev. António Barnabé, the national leader of the Tocoist Church in Portugal.
The event concluded with celebratory moments of fellowship.
