Athens, Greece – Drizzly weather did not discourage a hardy group of Peace Road activists from marching through downtown Athens on Sunday, December 7th, 2025. UPF-Greece, in cooperation with members of the Scientology Association in Athens, organized the event, in which members of the Church of Latter-Day Saints were also invited to join. Posters and leaflets handed out earlier also encouraged members of the public to participate. A police escort accompanied the Peace Road march along its route through the heart of the city.
The march began at Constitution Square, next to the Greek Parliament, and continued along Ermou Street, passing through Monastiraki Square, before reaching its final destination at Pnyx Hill, a historic symbol of democracy, situated opposite the Acropolis. There was a joyful, energized atmosphere with positive vibes along the way.
With Human Rights Day upcoming on December 10, members of Scientology took the opportunity to distribute their community’s pamphlets and loudly voice slogans supporting human rights.
At Pnyx Hill, where Athenians have gathered for popular assemblies since 507 BC, Mr. Yannis Porfyris, secretary general of UPF-Greece, delivered a brief speech, highlighting the history of the Peace Road project as a landmark initiative promoting unity and peace among nations, inspired by UPF co-Founders, Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han.
