Voronezh, Russia – In Orlyonok city park on July 12, 2025, an eco-game event titled “Make Green Choices!” was held as part of UPF-Russia’s ongoing EcoGeneration environmental educational project. The event was organized by a team of volunteers led by Ms. Elena Knyazeva, coordinator of environmental programs for UPF-Russia.
The main theme of the event was waste separation, sorting, and recycling – essential elements of an environmentally responsible lifestyle. Participants, including both children and adults, took part in interactive activities, quizzes, and learned more about how every person can contribute to protecting the environment.
Special attention was given to explaining why waste should be separated by type, what kinds of waste can be recycled, and which require special handling. Volunteers discussed common mistakes people make when sorting waste and offered practical tips on how to adopt eco-friendly habits in everyday life. Participants also learned what happens to waste after collection, how recycling centers operate, and why recycling helps reduce harmful emissions and conserve natural resources.
The event involved six project volunteers, and 120 park visitors took part in the eco-game.
The event was part of a series of summer environmental awareness campaigns held in Voronezh under the EcoGeneration project. The aim of these activities is to increase environmental literacy, encourage sustainable habits, and foster a culture of responsible consumption and care for nature.
