Nepal Educators Meet to Support Strong Families

Lalitpur, Nepal – To commemorate the UN International Day of Families, UPF-Nepal organized a program at Ekta Academy in Lalitpur, on the theme "Families as the First School of Peace," on May 15, 2026.
More than 45 participants attended, including distinguished educators and professionals such as Mr. Nirajan Adhikari, principal of the Nirvana Academy in Kathmandu; Mr. Subarna KC, vice principal of St. Xavier’s School in Godavari; Mrs. Indira Sharma, principal of Ekta Academy; and Mr. Ram Babu Adhikari, executive officer of Nepal Television. The program was gracefully hosted by Mr. Birendra Shrestha of UPF-Nepal, who served as the master of ceremonies.
In her welcome remarks, Mrs. Indira Sharma highlighted the importance of family as the cornerstone of happiness and mutual respect. She reminded everyone that “family is the first school of our life.”
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Prakash Babu Thapa, director of UPF-South Asia, who provided an insightful overview of UPF’s mission and its purpose in celebrating specific UN-designated days. He encouraged participants to prioritize family education, pointing out that strong families create strong communities, and strong communities create a strong nation. Therefore the family becomes the foundation for a peaceful world. Sharing his personal experience of international marriage, he emphasized the role of families in fostering global harmony and nation-building.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mr. Shrestha, who expressed gratitude to all attendees for their inspiring participation and reaffirmed the collective commitment to nurturing strong, peaceful families.
