Today, June 13, 2025, marks the beginning of a journey – a 100-day campaign of hope, unity, and unwavering purpose, leading to the United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21.
As the international president of UPF International, I am honored to launch this global campaign with all of you – our partners, our friends, our Ambassadors for Peace.
At UPF, we reaffirm our deep and enduring commitment to a world rooted in peace – not just the absence of war, but a living harmony grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and the sacred dignity of every human being.
This year, the United Nations has given us a theme that calls for urgency: “Act Now for a Peaceful World.”
And we must. From our recent World Summit 2025 to our continued advocacy for a United Nations Office on the Korean Peninsula, UPF is acting, with conviction, with clarity, and with compassion.
Across five continents, our Ambassadors for Peace, our volunteers, our religious and civic leaders are already at work. Through education, dialogue, and acts of service, they are lighting the way toward peace.
Because true peace begins not only in conference halls, but in our hearts, our homes, our places of worship, and in our daily choices.
We believe we are one human family, created by God. And in this family, peace is everyone’s responsibility.
So today, I issue a heartfelt call:
To religious leaders – imams, monks, rabbis, priests, spiritual guides of every tradition – we ask you: lead us in unceasing prayer and collective meditation for global healing.
To our Ambassadors for Peace – educators, artists, business people, youth, and elders – take action. Organize, inspire, connect. Let your creativity and compassion awaken change.
To governments, diplomats, and the United Nations – let us call together for a global ceasefire and a day of nonviolence on September 21. Let us stand as one in reflection, in solidarity, and in service.
Over the next 100 days, UPF will:
• Partner with schools and faith institutions for peace events and education;
• Hold interfaith prayer vigils and youth leadership trainings;
• Share daily reflections and practical tools for peace in everyday life;
• Work with UN agencies and member states to shine a light on the spiritual foundations of peace.
Since 1981, the United Nations has called us to dedicate this day, not just for silence, but for change. Not just for remembering, but for rebuilding.
Peace is not a distant dream; it is a decision we make today.
Let us walk these next 100 days with intention, with love, and with action. So that when we arrive at the International Day of Peace, we do not stand as strangers to peace, but as its living witnesses.
Together, let us act now, for a peaceful world.
Tageldin Hamad, President, Universal Peace Federation June 13, 2025
