Changwon, South Korea – The 13th Gyeongnam Leaders Conference Forum and the opening of the 4th Peace Academy workshop, with a special lecture by former Changwon National University President Lee Su-oh, took place on October 8, 2024 in the main conference room of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Council. Approximately 80 leaders from the Gyeongnam region took part, including Provincial Council Chairman Choi Hak-beom, former Changwon National University President Choi Hae-beom, and Gyeongnam Environmental Foundation CEO Jeong Pan-yong.
The event began with an opening declaration by UPF Secretary General Lee Mi-ja, followed by the national anthem, guest introductions, welcoming remarks and a progress report by UPF President Park Pan-do. This was followed by a congratulatory speech from Chairman Choi Hak-beom.
Mr. Choi emphasized the significant role of the Gyeongnam Leaders Conference in promoting reunification of the Korean Peninsula and contributing to world peace. Also, he urged cooperation between conference members and the Peace Academy to foster community development.
In the second part of the event, former President Lee Su-oh delivered a lecture titled "For a Harmonious Life," stressing the importance of balancing personal, family, and societal activities for harmonious living.
Through this event, the members of the Gyeongnam Leaders Conference and participants in the first to third Peace Academy workshops reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to world peace and resolving the issues of Korean reunification. It was a moment for them to renew their shared resolve to address those issues.
