Bratislava, Slovakia – The Peace Embassy in Bratislava was filled to capacity on November 6, 2025, as friends and supporters of UPF-Slovakia gathered to celebrate the organization‘s 20th anniversary.
UPF-Slovakia was inaugurated at the prestigious Slovak National Theater on October 31, 2005, in the presence of its founders Rev. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. From the very beginning, the development of the organization was steady, and was greatly enhanced by the opening of the Peace Embassy in September 2021.
The program started with the video, “UPF Celebrates 20 Years of Global Peacebuilding,” followed by a slide show of the inauguration to a commentary by UPF-Slovakia President Miloš Klas. A section of Rev. Moon's inaugural speech was read.
Dr. Ján Figeľ, a prominent politician in Slovakia and abroad, gave a congratulatory address, followed by remarks about UPF Slovakia’s activities by MP Mr. Marek Krajčí.
UPF interfaith activist Mr. Robert Leskovjanský gave a presentation on UPF’s Principles of Peace, and Mr. Raghunatha from the Hare Krishna movement praised UPF’s interfaith work and quoted from the Vedas. Then followed a presentation of event highlights in various locations, including several events at premises of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
Messages of appreciation were delivered by the Albanian ambassador Dr. Artem Hanku, Ms. Renata Poláková from the AllatRa movement, and the well-known journalist Mr. Igor Cibula. Three new ambassadors for peace were appointed: Dr. Ján Figeľ, MP Dr. Marek Krajčí and Mr. Pranjal Milovník, leader of the Sri Chinmoy Meditation Centre.
Between the talks uplifting songs were sung by two Ukrainian ladies – Ms. Radmila Sterľadkina and Ms. Darija – accompanied by pianist Ms. Natália Gončarenko. Talented young singer Mr. Sea Galis impressed the audience, and Mr. Alexander Magnússon and Mr. Laurenc Klas sang the popular song “My Slovakia” to a backdrop of pictures of famous landscapes.
After the two-hour program, the audience enjoyed homemade cakes donated by four guests, including Mr. Raghunatha’s wife Sucitra, along with sushi and other delicacies, and expressed great appreciation for the event.
