Budapest, Hungary – UPF-Hungary and the Women's Federation for World Peace (WFWP) jointly commemorated the UN International Day of Peace on September 21, 2026, with an online program entitled "The Barriers to Peace in the 21st Century." The aim was to raise awareness of the tasks that lie ahead in the journey to create peace.

As an ice-breaker, Ms. Zsófia Bendzsa, representing the young generation, conducted a fun quiz to test participants’ knowledge of the International Day of Peace and other peace-related events.

Presentations were on a variety of topics. Ms. Gabriella Papné Dancsó, representative of WFWP in Szeged, spoke about the role of women in society and the challenges they face. Dr. Péter Mészáros, professor emeritus, climate advocate and ambassador for peace, spoke about the impact of climate change on the world. Ms. Erzsébet Sturmné Tomka, president of UPF-Hungary, gave a brief summary presentation on UPF’s core principles of peace.

The program served to impart knowledge about various challenges on the road to peace, and encouraged participants to develop a mindset that can guide them in overcoming conflict and pursuing peace in their daily lives.
