Cameroon Conference Stresses Family Stability

Yaoundé, Cameroon – A conference at the Deputy Hotel in Yaoundé on May 16, 2026, brought together religious leaders, community representatives, couples, families and youth to honor the International Day of Families. The event, organized by UPF-Cameroon and FFWPU Cameroon, aimed to promote family values, strengthen social cohesion, raise awareness on inequalities affecting families and children, and encourage dialogue on child protection and family stability as foundations for peace.

The program was widely publicized through invitation letters, phone calls, WhatsApp messaging, social media outreach and grassroots mobilization. The conference featured presentations on the UN theme “Families, Inequalities and Child Well-being,” as well as reflections on “Family, the School of Love,” emphasizing moral education, responsibility and unity within the household. An interactive Q&A session allowed participants to engage directly with speakers, and the event concluded with prayers, group photos, fellowship and refreshments.

A notable highlight of the program was the nomination of Pastor Igore and his wife as ambassadors for peace, recognizing their contribution to promoting family values and peacebuilding within their community. This recognition was received with strong appreciation, and served as an encouragement to participants to model similar leadership within their families and communities.

In his presentation, the secretary general of UPF-Cameroon, Mr. Innocent Fongoh Ndasi, underscored that strengthening families is essential to addressing social inequalities and building a culture of peace. He further highlighted the family as the primary school of love, where values such as respect, unity and responsibility are first formed and transmitted to society.

Participants responded positively to the conference, describing it as insightful, inspiring and practically relevant. Many noted that the sessions improved their understanding of family dynamics and encouraged them to strengthen communication and harmony within their households. Youth participants in particular expressed motivation to adopt more respectful and responsible attitudes within their families, while community leaders emphasized that sustainable peace must begin at the family level. The recognition of the peace ambassador couple was widely appreciated as a powerful example of service and unity.

The activity was assessed as highly successful in achieving its objectives, with strong engagement from participants and clear reinforcement of key messages on family stability, child protection and peacebuilding. An unplanned outcome was the increased demand from participants for more regular educational and peace-oriented programs, indicating strong community interest in continued engagement.
