Albanian Roundtable Addresses Challenges Facing Families

Tirana, Albania – To celebrate the UN International Day of Families, UPF-Albania, local ambassadors for peace, and the Tirana Peace Council held a roundtable discussion on the topic “Family in Transition: Economic and Social Challenges and Policies for Sustainability” on May 8, 2026.
This roundtable brought attention to the reality faced by Albanian families today and the need for stronger supportive policies. The event gathered experts, professionals and representatives from various fields to analyze the economic, social and legal challenges that directly affect family stability and well-being.
The main objectives of the activity were:
· Analysis of the economic challenges facing families
· Discussion of social and psychological dynamics
· Evaluation of public policies and the legal framework
· Presentation of best practices and successful models
· Strengthening interinstitutional cooperation
Four presenters offered their perspectives on these issues. They included Mr. Myzeljen Hoxha, financier and vice president of the UPF National Assembly, who gave a talk on economic challenges facing families. Dr. Saemira Pino, vice president of UPF-Albania, offered a presentation on social and psychological dynamics of families.
Mr. Kastriot Selita, former president of the Tirana Administrative Court of Appeals, addressed issues of public policy and the legal framework facing families. Finally, Mr. Gani Rroshi, secretary general of UPF-Albania, offered recommendations through his presentation on successful family models.
The meeting highlighted the importance of a coordinated approach among institutions, experts and civil society in order to build sustainable policies that support the Albanian family in facing the challenges of modern times.
