Albania Celebrates Family as Root of Peace & Social Order

Tirana, Albania – To mark the International Day of Families and UPF’s Month of Family, UPF-Albania and the Tirana Regional Peace Council held an event entitled “The Family – The Foundation of Peace and Social Order” on May 25, 2026. Among the 200 participants were ambassadors for peace, personalities from various fields, friends and special guests.

The purpose of the meeting was to promote family values and raise awareness about the importance of educating younger generations about responsibility as a basis for generating healthy families and a strong society.

The event opened with a stirring performance of the song “You Raise Me Up” by the young singer Ms. Amadea Vasmatics, who created an inspiring atmosphere.

Under the professional moderation of the chairman of UPF-Albania, Mr. Defrim Methasani, who brings life to every activity with his spirit and energy, participants were greeted by some of UPF’s international leadership and its close affiliates. These included Rev. Seung-yeon Doo, international director general of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU); Mr. Jacques Marion, UPF president for Europe and the Middle East; and Dr. Michael Balcomb, president of FFWPU for Europe and the Middle East.

The festive ambiance was enriched by renowned artists Mr. Kozma Dushi, Mr. Bashkim Alibali, and the Çepini Ensemble led by Mr. Tomor Lelo, who touched everyone’s heart with their artistic performances.

To conclude, Mr. Gani Rroshi, secretary general of UPF-Albania, gave a presentation on UPF’s mission and works, and explained the role of ambassadors for peace.  This was followed by a ceremony where nine distinguished personalities from Albania and Kosovo were honored with the title Ambassador for Peace for their contributions to society and the promotion of universal values.
