Sao Paulo, Brazil – A celebration hosted by UPF-Brazil to mark the International Day of Peace on September 21, 2024, at its headquarters in São Paulo, gathered 130 participants and included the appointment of 13 new ambassadors for peace. The new ambassadors were all founding pastors of Evangelical churches.
The program featured Mr. Paulo Kobayashi, president of Motorcyclists in Christ; Dr. Simão Ferabolli, chairman of UPF-South America; and Mr. Samuel Ota Linhares, president of YSP Latin America.
Inspiring speeches were followed by a musical performance and the appointment of the new ambassadors, with a special tribute to each one. In addition to the 13 appointees, participants included over 50 other Evangelical pastors.
"The International Day of Peace event was an incredible experience of unity and hope, where we were able to forge bonds with our brothers and sisters in faith," commented Mr. Washington Wendel, an ambassador for peace.
Palhoça, Brazil – In the city of Palhoça, Santa Catarina, a Peace Forum was held with the presence of local authorities including councilors, academics and journalists, who debated the theme "Building Peace for All."
The program included speeches on building peace in society and recognition of individuals who have contributed to peace through social, political, and educational projects, as well as musical performances.
During both events, tributes were paid to ambassadors for peace who have actively contributed to peacebuilding as righteous leaders of influence in society. These events received support from government authorities, positive media coverage from local outlets, and strengthened UPF's peacebuilding initiatives in Brazil.
