Oceania Leadership Conference Convenes in Brisbane, Australia

Australia-2018-07-04-Oceania Leadership Conference Convenes in Brisbane, Australia

Brisbane, Australia—Dr. Robert Kittel, international president of Youth and Students for Peace (YSP), came to our beautiful city on America's Independence Day, the Fourth of July. About 75 guests gathered at the Annerley Community Centre for a program featuring his PowerPoint presentation about UPF’s Principles for Peace. Dr. Kittel's presentation included content about the founders, Reverend Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. In particular, he shared about the value of the World Peace Blessing.

Steve Evans, leader of the Brisbane chapter of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, emceed, and Susi Evans, president of the Brisbane Women’s Federation for World Peace, coordinated the event. We welcomed other visiting leaders of UPF-Oceania during the program and closed the evening with appointing four Ambassadors for Peace, including two medical doctors, Dr. Thomas Challenger and Dr. Vesugi, who expressed interest in deeper involvement. Dr. Vesugi said she felt called to translate the autobiography of Reverend Moon, As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen, into Tamil.

Everyone worked tirelessly to bring success. Dr. Kittel shared he was impressed with the quality and responsiveness of the audience. Two leaders of the Chinese community, one a new Ambassador for Peace, commented that these presentations would be great to share with their compatriots as well. It is our hope that Dr. Kittel will return and conduct a World Peace Blessing later this year. A senior Ambassador for Peace, Surendra Presad, committed himself to work for such an event.

We are following up closely with our wonderful guests now for further education and deeper relationships.
