Moscow, Russia - UPF-Eurasia's Baltic Dialogue project includes plans for sports and cultural programs to build neighborly relations among the youth of northwest Russia and the neighboring nations of Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, and Sweden.
All of these are historical enemies of the Soviet Union. Some safely broke off from Russia, while others were seized by the Soviet Union and had to fight for independence. There are a lot of historical resentments.
The cultural, sports, and service programs are designed to foster dialogue between the youth of Baltic states and Russia based on shared European values. Grassroots diplomacy and mutual understanding are nurtured through joint humanitarian aid and service.
Run through Russia, Estonia, and Latvia
The concept of the run through Russia, Estonia, and Latvia is to involve local people in discussing the issues in the relationships between Russia and Baltic states. Participants will include both experienced runners and young people willing to participate. The main events of the project will take place at the starting and finishing lines of each stage. Meals and accommodations will be arranged in the host countries.
Cross-cultural Exchanges in Norway, Sweden, Latvia, and Estonia
