London, United Kingdom—An Albanian Peace Council of Albanians living in the U.K. received its inauguration.

The inauguration, held on January 25, 2020, in UPF’s London offices, was moderated by Elvisa Memia, a marketing campaign executive.

H.E. Qirjako Qirko, the Albanian ambassador to the U.K., was one of the prominent guests at the event.

Other speakers were UPF-Albania Chairman Gaqo Apostoli, a former Albanian minister of transportation; UPF-Albania Secretary General Gani Rroshi; Dr. Michael Balcomb, chairman of UPF for Europe and the Middle East; and Lavdrim Krashi, service manager of the London Borough of Brent, who is now the president of the U.K. Albanian Peace Council.

During the program a number of Ambassador for Peace awards were conferred to selected members of the Albanian community. Mr. Apostoli announced that Perparim Rama and Adelina Badivuku would be vice presidents of the Peace Council.

UPF was established in Albania in 2005 and now has over 4,000 Ambassadors for Peace. In addition, UPF Local Peace Councils are located in all 61 municipalities of Albania.
