Moldova’s Peace Road Event Shown on National TV

Moldova-2015-08-05-Moldova’s Peace Road Event Shown on National TV

Chisinau, Moldova—More than 50 persons bicycled through the capital on August 5 as UPF-Moldova’s contribution to the Peace Road 2015 initiative.

The participants included Ambassadors for Peace, NGO volunteers, students and children. New guests and students each received a copy of As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen, the autobiography of UPF Founder Dr. Sun Myung Moon, as a gift.

In his opening remarks UPF-Moldova Secretary General Mihai Calestru spoke about the significance and roots of the Peace Road initiative. He encouraged the participants to research more about Dr. Moon’s life, legacy and teachings. In this way, he said, they could learn how to make peace a reality, starting in their own life and expanding it to their family, community, nation and eventually the world.

News reporters from national television channel Moldova 1 covered the event. Their report was broadcast on the August 6 evening news. (A video of the broadcast can be found here. coverage from 29:50 to 31:27.)

Ambassadors for Peace contributed much to the success of this event—in particular, Mrs. Gutiera Prodan, who invited media representatives, as well as Mr. Pavel Cherbusca, Mrs. Eugenia Ursu and Mr. Marin Mazur, who mobilized participants and donations.

Very significant for the Moldova event was the participation of Rev. Hong Mo Lee and his whole family. Rev. Lee is one of the founders of the first Peace Road tour, which was held in 2013 in Korea. His presence at the event in Moldova gave the organizers the desire to challenge themselves to organize a larger event next year.

The action concluded with a picnic in the park with pancakes prepared by UPF volunteers.

Thanks to everybody’s support and prayers for the success of the Peace Road 2015 event held successfully in Chisinau, Moldova.
