Football for Peace Tournament Held in Moscow

Russia-2019-08-10-Football for Peace Tournament Held in Moscow

Moscow, Russia—Despite continuous rain, nine teams fought hard in the Play Football for Peace tournament organized by UPF-Moscow.

The newest edition of Football for Peace was held on August 10, 2019, in the Lyublino District of southeastern Moscow. This was the first time that nine teams participated.

The tournament was from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and all this time it rained continuously for six hours, but this did not stop 18 games and we still could determine the strongest team.

Thus, this Saturday morning football brought together more than 60 people of different nationalities and ages. All the teams fought hard and no one wanted to concede, overcoming difficulties in the form of heavy rain and even the puddles which subsequently formed and influenced the game.

In a bitter struggle, the Industrial Resources team took the cup, beating in the finals The Legend, a team that debuted for the first time in our tournament. Most of the time ended in a draw, but in extra times the winners were able to hit The Legend’s gate twice more. As a result, the match ended with the score 3:1.

In the match for the third place, the Kyrgyz team Issyk-Kul and the Uzbek Samarkand met. The victory was won by the latter team with a score of 2:1.

The tournament went well, and the participants felt many positive emotions and had an interesting experience. It turned out to be a small but real football holiday for friendliness, fair play and world peace.
