City Helps Village: Summer Volunteer Camp in the Urals

Pokrovskoye, Urals, Russia - During a summer camp for children Aug. 1-16, 2009, volunteers from Yekaterinburg and Kurgan reconstructed two playgrounds, and women from Yekaterinburg met with elderly people in the village.

Building a Culture of Heart, Peace and Service in Haiti

Our service project in Les Cayes, Haiti June 15-29 focused on building a culture of heart and service. We focused our energies on developing relationships between Haitian students and American students for the purpose of learning each other's cultures, traditions, and lifestyles. This journey that was foreign to all of us was embarked upon by 30 people from both countries. The vision for the service project was to promote one family under God.

In the News: 10 Sen to Change a Child's Future

Malayasia - By Donating a mere 10 sen, you can change a child's future. That is the thrust of the Power of 10 Sen campaign. Organised by the Universal Peace Federation of Malaysia and the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS), the campaign, dubbed "Now Everyone Can Give", aims to raise RM300,000 by putting up 7,000 special Power of 10 Sen collection boxes in 340 schools throughout Malaysia until May 12.

The people hope that the new strategy of US President Barack Obama and the international community can bring a new, effective policy for the benefit of the Afghan people. The only ones who are benefiting from the old policy are those who are corrupt. The middle class and the poor people have no chance to develop. They only become more and more poor, affected by the continuous increases in prices and lacking any opportunities for adequate jobs.

A Million Blooms of Interfaith Service and Kindness

Washington, DC, USA - The Million Acts of Service and Kindness campaign is springing into the new year with efforts all around the United States. In keeping with the spring season, the current theme is "A Million Blooms." The campaign began at the Global Peace Festival in August 2008 and will continue throughout 2009 in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation. It has an interfaith and youth focus and is striving for sustainable service that produces positive social change. Youth of all faiths are invited to lead and to participate.

Peace Tour in Malawi Features Tree Planting and a River Clean up

Blantyre, Malawi - The UPF Peace Message was delivered at the Polytechnic Campus of the University of Malawi on March 21, 2009, followed by a clean-up of the Mudi River and planting of 200 trees.
