UPF-Moscow Plants Trees to Beautify Lake

Russia-2020-10-17-UPF-Moscow Plants Trees to Beautify Lake

Moscow, Russia—UPF volunteers helped to plant 77 new trees and shrubs in a Moscow Region environmental campaign.

The action took place on October 17, 2020, in a park surrounding Malakhovka Lake, close to the city of Moscow.

Quite a few residents of the village of Malakhovka responded to the campaign. Representatives of the local administration and public organizations, local residents, and the council of veterans came out to plant trees.

Dmitry Kurakin, deputy chairman of the Moscow Region government and minister of ecology and nature management; and Vladimir Ruzhitsky, head of the Lyubertsy District, also took an active part in the action and planted trees together with local residents and volunteers.

This was not the end of the campaign; there are plans to plant about 500 shrubs of jasmine and lilac, as well as 30 spruce trees.

Feedback from one of the volunteers of the Universal Peace Federation: “We really liked the tree planting project. We ourselves have planted three family trees—two thujas and one mountain ash. We will come and take care of our trees. The shore of Malakhovka Lake has been magnificently transformed. Thank you all for this project.”—Lyudmila Pimakhina.
